JAMMU, Aug 14: Strongly condemning the reluctance of the State Government in providing adequate compensations to the victims of Kishtwar riots, the Jammu State Morcha (JSM) said today that it is the responsibility of the Government to sanction sufficient grant to the families who lost their near and dears and fully compensate the losses that the people suffered because of destruction of their houses and shops. In a press statement issued here, the JSM president Prof Virender Gupta said that Kishtwar episode inflicted loss of lives, physical injuries and houses and business establishments of several people were damaged and destroyed in the violence that took place in Kishtwar. Gupta further said in order to console the people and to create a sense of security among them, the Government must reflect through its actions that it stands behind them in these bad hours. If this is not done it would reflect on the intentions of the Government that it does not want to ensure stopping of migration of the minority communities from Kishtwar and other affected areas, he added. Prof Virender Gupta also expressed its concern that the leaders of Congress, even of BJP and JKNPP did not insist on the issue of providing complete compensations to the victims of Kishtwar riots including those whose houses were burnt and business establishment were destroyed, during the meeting called by Omar Abdullah. |
