Sports Reporter Jammu, Aug 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police today made a winning start when they beat Bihar Police in the opening tie of the league round in the 62nd All India Police Hockey Championship being hosted by Karnataka Police at Shanti Nagar Astroturf Stadium, Bangalore. As per the reports reaching here, J&K Police blanked Bihar 4-0 to launch their campaign in style. Now, in the next round match, J&K Police shall lock horns against Andhra Pradesh Police tomorrow. "With a win against Andhra Pradesh tomorrow, we are sure to make it to the next stage of quarterfinals," Sports Officer of J&K Police, Jameel Ahmed told. In all, 27 teams, representing various States, Union Territories and Central Police Organizations are taking part in this championship being held under the banner of All India Police Sports Control Board. A good number of players of international repute including Gagan Ajit Singh, Sandeep Singh, Rajpal Singh, Gurbaj Singh, Jagbir Singh and Mukesh Kumar are participating in this competition. Meanwhile, back home, in a handout issued here today, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, SM Sahai complimented the team for their fabulous start in the prestigious competition. He insisted the players to utilize the championship as an opportunity to carve out a niche for themselves in the field. Wishing the team success in next matches, the ADGP urged the players to put in best of their efforts to reach the next level. |
