| BSNL network irritates subscribers, people buys alternate connections | | Shastri Nagar, Nai Bast, Satwari worst affected | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 25: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), largest telecommunication network has limited access with its customers, not only in phone connectivity, but the Customer care is also out of the access of the customers. Call drop, voice crack, call failed and network congestion are frequent problem with the BSNL Subscribers in Jammu. Whenever a number is dialed from the BSNL mobile either it sounds out of reach or connects with disturbance in the voice. Now, the subscribers of BSNL are left with no other option to get a standby connection of some other operator due to prolonged disruptions of mobile, landline and broadband connectivity. BSNL has the largest network in the state with 11.2 Lakh mobile subscribers, two Lakh Land Line, 55000 WLL and 50000 Broadband customers. Nai Bast, Shastri Nagar and Satwari are the worst affected of poor connectivity of BSNL. Even as the problem continues to prevail in the locality for months, the authorities have the excuses that they have some dispute with the landlord of the building, where tower is installed. "I have BSNL mobile since 2003, as it was the only telecom operator in the State, but the services of this operator are worst there days, as I can't even talk to someone from this number for a minute," said Saurabh Chpra, a resident of Shastri Nagar. "I had approached the authorities of BSNL, but no one entertain complains there, I cannot change this number, so I had to buy one more sim card of Vodafone to get better connectivity," he added. Most of the residents of Shastri Nagar, Nai Basti and Satwari have brought another connection of the private telecom operators to get get better services. The problem with the BSNL do not ends here , as the other services of the BSNL like 3G, broadband, Land line and WLL are also irritating the customers, moreover there is no one on the helpline of the BSNL '1500'. If someone dials 1500 to talk to customer care executive, he has to wait for hours but no one comes online from that side to address the grievances of the customers. As BSNL is the only company which provides broadband services in Jammu, the frequent disruptions make the students, banks, Media and other commercial institutions handicapped without internet. Ashok Angral, General Manager (GM) Mobile, BSNL Jammu, when contacted accepted that there is some problem with a tower at Nai Basti, which is affecting the areas of Shastri Nagar and Satwari. "There is some dispute with the landlord of the building at Nai Basti, where the tower is installed, the case is in the Jammu High court, so we cannot do anything till the court gives its decision," said GM Mobile. But he refuses the problem in rest of the city saying, "There is no problem in any of the area, accept Nai Basti, sometime some technical fault may disrupt the services for some time, but the system is working smoothly," he added. R K Koul, Chief General Manager Telecomm (CGMT) said, "The problem of the customer care executives is with the entire north zone, there is some issue in Mohali, where this department lies, but our customer can contact in the nearest offices, where the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) will address the issues, else they can also contact the GM." "I think the people have faith on BSNL, as after the service of Mobile portability, the in-out ratio is 2:1, if two customers have joined only one has left our network," he added. |
