Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: Led by former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta a group of Legislators would shortly visit the trouble torn Kishtwar to take stock of situation there so that the issue could be raised in its true perspective in the ensuing session of the Assembly as also otherwise. According to the press statement issued here today, Prof Gupta said that a very disturbing situation was created when a large numbers of miscreants were allowed to indulge in free for all for hours together. Prof Gupta regretted the much pronounced special investigating seems nowhere, not to say of recovering the looted property and book the culprits. "There are reports that some of the looted guns have been recovered but from whom and where are the remaining ones, the whole matter still remains a mystery, he stated. Prof Gupta also observed that on one hand the destitute traders are being asked to resume their business, on the other hand not even preliminary relief has been provided them, so much so no committee has been appointed to assess the actual losses. "The entire approach to set the things right seem to be casual one, he alleged and regretted that there is little seriousness to apply balm to the victims of the wrath. He expressed surprise that instead of taking measures to restore the shaken confidence of the minorities, some dubious including from within the ruling parties and outside are raising unrealistic demands including one that of disbanding of the Village Defence Committees which were in practical instrumental in frustrating the evil designs of the terrorists to scare away the minorities from erstwhile Doda belt. "The real need is to strengthen the VDC's , he added and pointed out that the cross border terror still existed and there appears no let up in their evil designs. |
