SRINAGAR, Aug 29: The National Conference received a shock when Congress decided to form the council in Kargil with the support of Khumaini Memorial Trust and independents.
According to the details received, out of total 26 seats two candidates were declared successful and 4 seats are nominated by the State Government while as Congress-Imam Khumaini memorial trust which won 11 council seats in LAHDC elections of Kargil district has gained the support of another five independent candidates and have decided to form the council together, while as National Conference-Islamia high school alliance which took 8 seats in the election have been shown the door way following the widening rift between the two rivals across the state and alleged poor performance of the said alliance in its previous turn in the area.
At a time when Ladakh autonomous hill development council which is elected for a period of five years and is considered a powerful local body who's members enjoy the powers of Ministers of state, the senior most members of LAHDC said that National Conference has failed to represent the aspirations of people of Kargil area in last five years and the result of their doings have paid for them now. While rejecting any sort of alliance with National Conference in 2014 Assembly elections, founder members of the LAHDC said that it is because of the level of mistrust among people and their poor performance at ground level that three of their top brass ex-councilors were thrown out by people this time and are likely to remain out from 2014 Assembly elections as well keeping in view the significant change people of Kargil are have assimilated in themselves.
Founder member of LAHDC, Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai while talking to early times said that National Conference led LAHDC has failed at grass root level in last five years and some senior members of national conference Like Qamar Ali Akhoon and Dr Mustafa Kamaal are the biggest weapons of destruction of National Conference who have not only ruined the status quo of National Conference in Ladakh division but have also degraded the image and status of the collation Government of Jammu and Kashmir across the country as well.
While alleging National Conference of being a party of fraudulents, Karbalai said that NC has cheated the people of Kargil in last five years and could do nothing to develop the region parallel with Jammu or Srinagar cities of the state. "If there will be any sort of alliance with NC in 2014 Assembly elections, it can be in either in Jammu or in Kashmir but not beyond Zojilla Pass that is where from Ladakh division starts," said the Haji.
He said that State Congress will emerge as a single largest party in 2014 Assembly elections and as per his estimates none among the State Congress members is willing to go with any sort of pre poll alliance with National Conference. He also said that keeping in view the wave of change in political spectrum across the State people of Kargil have started a successful process of success for State Congress and such a process will be seen in other parts of the state in 2014 Assembly elections as well.
Pertinently Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) which failed to won a single seat in the LAHDC elections, Haji said that as per his knowledge from Delhi to Srinagar nobody is in favour of any sort of alliance with national conference when it comes to 2014 Assembly elections, however he added that about the alliance with PDP, the final decision will obviously come from Congress high command and State Congress members will follow any decision of New Delhi with letter and spirit in this connection.
