| Kishtwar Educational institutions open first time after August 9 violence | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Aug 29 : After series of earthquakes followed by August 9 violence in Kishtwar District, all the private and government institutions finally opened after nearly one month. Even though the normalcy returned to the District last week followed by peace march led by Medical Education Minister Taj Mohiudin, but the administration preferred to keep the educational institutions closed as a precautionary measure. The administration after assessing the situation finally decided to order reopening of the schools for today. Due to earthquake and Eid violence, the majority of the schools remained closed for at least two months since May 1earthquake jolted Doda and Kishtwar Districts as a result of which the student community suffered a lot. Even though the schools opened today, the attendance in many government school remained thin since the majority of the students studying in government schools hailing from poor families had migrated in search of work. The school administration expected full attendance in schools from Monday onwards as many people hailing from rural areas of the Kishtwar are expected to return in view of the improved situation. However security forces continue to remain deployed at many sensitive places in and around Kishtwar town. |
