Sports Reporter JAMMU, Aug 29: Rattan Lal of Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur clinched the Cross Country gold in the annual inter-college competitions of University of Jammu (JU) got underway on the Sports Day, here om Thursday. Second place went to Bashir Ahmed of GDC Bhaderwah while Rakesh Kumar of GDC Samba remained third. In all, 40 long distance runners drawn from various affiliated colleges of the JU took part in the competition held early morning on the campus. The women's Cross Country event shall take place tomorrow at the same venue at 7 am under the banner of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education. Earlier, Vice Chancellor, Prof. MPS Ishar flagged off the athletes after a brief interaction with the participants and the teacher incharge. Also present were Director Sports, Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau, Prof. Ashok Kumar (GDC Kathua), Dr Vinod Bakshi, Ajaz Malik, Rakesh Puri, Narayani Jamwal, Balbir Singh Chib, Sandeep Sharma, Neelam Chalorta (Physical Training Instructors). The event was supervised by Physical Education Teacher (PET) with Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) and one of the state's top athletes, Nirmal Singh. Nirmal was extended the needed support by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Sanjeev Jamwal, Nisha Sharma, Jai Bharat and Padam Dev Singh. |
