| NC fails to furnish details sought by Sangarsh Movement | | CM making double speak on RTI | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 5: Ridiculing the Chief Minister's statement that political parties should come under the ambit of RTI, the Sangarsh RTI movement today said that it was the National Conference and National Panthers Party (NPP) which did not respond to their RTI applications filed early this year. In a statement issued here today, chairman of the Sangarsh RTI Movement Balwinder Singh said that while his organization had filed RTI's against three regional parties of the State including People’s Democratic Party (PDP), NC and NPP it was only PDP which replied every query sought from them. The NC even did not entertain the letter neither it bothered to reply that Party does not come under the ambit or RTI. The NPP which also did not give information sought by the Sangarsh movement, however replied the letter. The Sangarsh RTI movement while turning tables on Omar Abdullah and his NC said that this was Chief Minister who is making a double speak just to play to galleries. If CM is so particular in bringing the political parties under the purview of RTI he should have started from his own Party of which Mr Abdullah is also the working president. The Sangarsh RTI Movement which is a voluntary body and has launched a crusade in the State by seeking information from Government departments regarding their functioning and funds spent thus has asked Mr Abdullah to be practical instead of hoodwinking the people and misleading them by his double speak. Had the NC volunteered in giving the information under RTI, it would have set a precedent not only in the State but entire country and this would have been a great contribution to the RTI Movement in the country. By his double speak CM is creating a confusion and in case he is so particular in bringing the political parties under the purview of RTI he should ask his party to furnish entire information sought by the Sangarsh RTI movement and reply point by point to them. This will set a good precedence not only in the State but entire country. |
