Sexual exploitation of mentally retarded girls
2 more suspects grilled

Jammu, Sept 5: Two more suspects were lifted by police for questioning during investigations into alleged sexual exploitation of mentally retarded girls in a an NGO here. They have been identified as Lalita and GL Koul, both employees in the NGO. Police were already questioning Director of the NGO Suram Chand Sharma and Chowkidar namely Angat Kumar, who were lifted as prime accused.
SSP Jammu Attul Kumar Goel when contacted said that four suspects are being questioned.He further said that policemen have been deployed in the premises of NGO and the re-examination of the girls would be conducted.
However, sources in the administration said that the government may take over the NGO after the inquiry into case of the sexual exploitation of the girls was finalized.
Pertinently, police arrested two persons including Director and Chowkidar of Rotary Inner Wheel Home for Mentally retarded children at Channi Rama for allegedly outraging modesty of five young girls.
Sources said that Trikuta Nagar police swung into action after the medical check up of the mentally retarded girls. The complaint in this connection was lodged with the SSP Jammu who forwarded the same to the DC Jammu.
Sources said that the DC immediately constituted a committee headed by the ADC Jammu, concerned SDPO Shamsher Singh Sambyal, two gynecology doctors, a child line member and others for investigation in the case.
According to the sources, during the preliminary course of investigation the doctors conducted medical examination of the girls, who were suspected to be raped by the management of the Home.
"Out of 17 girls, five were found to be allegedly raped regularly following which two persons, one of them the director of the Home and second a Chowkidar were arrested," sources added.
They said that the police was deployed in strengthen around the Home while the probe report has been submitted before the administration for action, while Trikuta Nagar police have registered a rape case under 376 of RPC and further investigation is on.
