JAMMU, Sept 5: Taking serious note of the horrific practice of sexual exploitation going on in the Rotary Inner Wheel Home for mentally retarded children at Channi Rama in the outskirts of Jammu city, BJP state spokesperson Nirmal Kamal asserted that the State Government's Social Welfare Ministry should directly intervene in the matter.
Expressing shock over the helpless mentally retarded innocent girls aging between 10 to 16 years, who took shelter under a home where more than 45 boys and girls are inhabiting, so that they can be treated to become normal and live a dignified life, Nirmal Kamal questioned the authorities that when women of the entire country and the state are united against the heinous crime of sexual assault on women, how the authorities of such protective homes in connivance with sick members of society are engaged in flourishing the anti-social crime against women?
She reiterated that several reports of crime against women- incidences of kidnapping, gang-rapes, rapes of dumb (in Reasi) mentally retarded rape of minors and even over-aged are widespread in entire State which is a horrific situation.
The stringent actions taken are quite slow often acquitting the culprits and emboldening the criminals which is not acceptable.
She further put-forth the demand of BJP that merely arresting of the Director and the Chowkidar of home for mentally retarded children by the police is not sufficient, it is imperative that the ministry which is headed by a woman, should intervene and take action by recommending the case to the CBI so that faces involved in the vicious act are exposed.
