JAMMU, Sept 9: Organised by the Jammu City and District Badminton Association, the 28th District Badminton Championship got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The four-day competition was declared open by Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, who was chief guest in the opening function. Industrialist, Parveen Mittal was guest of honour.
Earlier, before start of the competition, all the participants and other guests observed two minute silence to pay respect to the veteran badminton player, Kasturi Lal Mahajan, who left for the heavenly abode.
Prominent among those present were Dr O D Sharma, Goutam Choudhary, Viinay Kumar, Som Raj Gupta, Subash Sharma, Anil Gaind, PC Sodi, PD Singh, Satpal Sharma, Vikram Jamwal, Anil Sunil and Indu Bhushan.
