Srinagar, Sept 9: Hours after State Congress sought united progressive alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's intervention into the much controversial nominations by Chief Minister ,Omar Abdullah in the newly elected Kargil Autonomous Hill Development council, NC additional general secretary Dr Mustafa Kamaal said that state congress is using undemocratic means to grab the power. At a time when NC decided against staking claim for the council in Kargil, Kamaal while replying to the question of Delhi intervention said that state congress headed by Saif-ud-din Soz is using undemocratic means like approaching Delhi for minor issues and threatening to approach the court to grab the power and added that such tactics by state congress are inventions of irresponsible people cannot yield anything.
Kamaal said that state Congress was weak in Kargil district despite their recent win in the council elections and added that some independent seats which Congress claims approached them to form the council willingly soon after results were declared is actually a theory full suspicion. He said that Saif ud din Soz has backtracked from a promise which he made to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah last time when council was formed in Kargil. As per the promise, Kamaal; said, Congress was bound to support NC in forming the council.
Talking to early times, Dr Kamaal said NC is not scared of the Congress threats of taking the matter with the high command or seeking judicial intervention. "It is a shame that the party approaches the Delhi leadership even on trivial issues", he said.
As reported earlier the oath ceremony of the councilors of LAHDC, Kargil District was postponed on Saturday after differences between the two allies broke out over the four nominations made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in favour of NC.
Sources close to state Congress Dr Farooq Abdullah was personally consulted by Congress high command to handle the matter as soon as possible or be ready to face the consequences.
Sources said that JKPCC chief was in no mood to form the coalition council with NC in Kargil as all the wining candidates of LAHDC Kargil council had reached Srinagar a week before and had threatened Saif ud din Soz to take all the steps which include break up with the NC. Pertinently Dr. Farooq Abdullah while expressing his displeasure over the dispute said NC had actually allowed Congress to take lead in LAHDC polls.
