Jammu, Sept 9: Vice Chairman of State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of OBC, Kuldeep Raj Verma today appealed Government to grant Rs 5 lakh compensation to the victims who suffered injuries in mine blasts in border areas like it is given to the militancy affected people. "The Government should also give similar compensation to those people who sustain injury or loss life in land mine blasts which usually occur in border areas," Verma said here at Khour addressing a mammoth public meeting. Verma further demanded that there was a need for the insurance of the people as well as their cattles in border villages. "The Government should extend its support to the border people who are poor and suffer due to accidental land mine blasts," he added. He further said that the land compensation for fields under the occupation of Army should be increased on border areas and fence should be taken ahead from the present place on LoC in Akhnoor. Speaking at the public meeting, the OBC Welfare Board vice chairman said that they had called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister alongwith MP Madan Lal Sharma in Delhi. During their meeting, Verma said, they have appealed the PM and Union Home Minister to direct the concerned authorities to take away the fence to 'zero line' from its present place. |
