| Demanding GRC, GBSWA hold peaceful rally | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: Demanding establishment of Gojri Research Center at Jammu University, Gujjar Bakerwal Student Welfare Association (GBSWA) today held a peaceful rally in the campus of Jammu University. According to press release, general students of university assembled in front of Central Library and marched towards university main gate in peaceful manner. The protesters were holding banners which read as "Save Languages", "Save Tribal Culture", "We want Gojri research center. Speaking to media persons president of GBSWA Talib Hussain said that university authority have been deliberately delaying the opening of 'GRC' which was approved in 2008 in the University council meet. "But now VC MP Singh is saying that they don't have funds to open the centre while it is a white lie, How can it be possible that university council approved any issue and dont provide funds to concern university", he said. He also said that when VC joined the university had said that JU has huge funds which have to use in proper way and he (VC) wanted to use the funds in proper way with the help of students. "But we don't have seen any type of promise fulfilled", he said, adding that 'UGC' has given a huge amount to all the universities of state under 12th five year plan for the improvement of universities, but the demand of students have not fulfilled. He also appealed to all the students, civil society to come in favour of students' genuine cause. "It's not only the issue of Gojri language but it is the issue of every existing culture, every live civilization, every history and every language", he said. He further announced that GBSWA has decided to start hunger strike in front of VC Chamber from September 10th. Akram Choudhary (Vice President), Tazeem Choudhary (General Secretary) Attaullah Niazi (Provincial President), Altaf Choudhary (Distt. President Samba) and all the members of GBSWA were present on the occasion. |
