Jammu, Sept.9: Sharply condemning the sexual exploitation of mentally retarded minor girls in their shelter home run by Jammu Rotary Club Inner Wheel (JRCIW) , Citizens Forum has assailed the attitude of office bearers of Rotary Club Jammu for playing down the heinous act going on in the home run by them for last one year and trying to shift the blame on the media and the police for the scandal becoming public.
A meeting of the Citizens Forum, held here today under the Chairmanship of its President RK Chadha, has flayed the incumbent office bearers of the Rotary Club Jammu for trying to wash their hands off the criminal activities going on in the home being run by them, with public donations and in turn putting the blame on the female wing of the club, by stating in a press conference addressed by them that their responsibility ends with only providing financial to the home for its running and they have remained unaware of goings on in the home.
Chadha has stated that the team of present office bearer of the Club, running the home for mentally retarded children in Channi Rama, where the minor female inmates were being sexually exploited for over one year, cannot absolve themselves itself of the moral responsibility for these ignoble activities going on in the home.
The forum has said that the admission by the office bearers of the club that they were totally unaware of the things going on in the home being run by them, with pubic donations, has shaken the faith of donors to the Rotary Club for the welfare activities being undertaken by the club.
The forum has further flayed the Rotary Club members for indulging in media bashing and with the same breadth blaming the police for exposing the scandal, arresting the alleged culprits and holding investigation into the same. |
