Manmohan, Sonia and Rahul had no time to assuage hurt feelings of minority community in Kishtwar
Muzaffarnagar communal riots

Jammu, Sept 17: Anti-national and pro-Pakistan elements and jihadis chose the holy day of Eid (August 9) to target and persecute members of the minority community in Kishtwar with a view to causing migration and cleansing the district of the minority community. The worst aspect of the whole situation was the reported connivance or negative attitude of certain elements in the Government and local civil and police administration, including MoH Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo and DIG, with those who unleashed a reign of senseless brutalities against the innocent and unarmed members of the minority community to promote their seditious and communal agendas. So much so, the district hospital authorities did not admit the victims of violence belonging to the minority community to the hospital. So cruel and biased they had turned.
As the local and civil administration refused to discharge its duty and enforce curfew for hours together the gun-totting goons, who were also holding Pakistan flags in their hands, did all that they could for almost ten hours to achieve their objectives. They brutally murdered one innocent civilian, caused serious injuries to many, looted and plundered the shops and business establishments belonging to the minority community, set on fire hundreds of the properties of the minority community and created a situation in and around Kishtwar town that made the minority community in certain areas to think in terms of migrating to safer areas. In fact, some of them did migrate saying they could not stay put as the NC-led coalition Government was just undependable. As a matter of fact, the minority community without mincing words charged MoH and certain officials directly responsible for what the anti-national and extremists did to them that black day and demanded not only their resignation but the resignation of the "biased" Government as well.
Credit goes to the BJP, the CPI-M and other opposition parties, including the BSP, which intervened and urged the Congress-led UPA Government to dispense justice to the victims of the organized violence and bring the culprits to justice. Leader of Opposition and BJP ideologue Arun Jaitley openly challenged Omar Abdullah and said in the Rajya Sabha that J&K did not belong to one family. CPI-M leader Sita Ram Yachury lambasted the State Government and charged it with allowing the situation to deteriorate. BSP leader Mayawati demanded dismissal of the Omar Abdullah-led irresponsible and biased Government. Similarly, other opposition leaders tore into the Omar Abdullah Government and expressed sympathies with the victims of violence.
The fact of the matter is that the opposition parties played an important role in exposing the wrong doings of the State Government but they failed to move Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son and AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi. None of them thought it politically wise to visit the ravaged Kishtwar for an on the spot assessment of the situation, assuage the hurt feelings of the minority community and share the grief and sorrow of the victims of violence. It is obvious that it was their vote-bank politics or their lust for the Muslim votes that motivated them to leave the victims of Kishtwar violence to the mercy of God and anarchy.
Indeed, the Prime Minister and UPA chairperson and the so-called Congress's Prime Ministerial candidate brazenly displayed their bias against the minority community in Jammu and Kashmir. That their whole conduct was communally-motivated could be seen from the fact that all the three, who control the Indian State, on Monday went to Muzaffarnagar, UP, to personally assess the situation there and the surrounding areas which witnessed worst type of communal riots. It was hoped that they would not discriminate between the communities and share the grief of all the victims of violence. But it was not to be. They only met with members of one community and assured them of all possible support to them. They did not meet the victims of violence belonging to the majority community.
This is the secularism the PM, the UPA chairperson and the AICC vice president preach and practice. It's no wonder that the bulk of the nation is thinking in terms of throwing out the fundamentally communal Congress-led UPA Government and the Congress itself lock, stock and barrel and bring to power a genuinely democratic Government at the centre.
