| Yadav & Abdullah two sides of same coin | | Charge against Jaitley baseless, ridiculous | | Rustam Jammu, Sept 17: On Monday, clueless Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah accused senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley of adopting a selective approach towards Jammu and Kashmir State and asked him why did he not visit riot-affected Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh)?" "Why did Arun Jaitley single out Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir and not go to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh?," he asked. "I had no objection in allowing him to go to Kishtwar, if he treated all riot-hit areas of country equally. He cannot single out us (Jammu and Kashmir) for special treatment," Omar Abdullah reportedly said. It bears recalling that Arun Jaitley, along with other BJP leaders, had planned to visit Kishtwar to study the situation there and apply balm to the wounds of the victims of violence, mostly members of the minority community. He reached Jammu on August 11, but was detained at the Jammu Airport and sent back to Delhi the same day on the spurious ground that his visit to Kishtwar might aggravate the situation. Arun Jaitley is known for his sober views and unbiased approach. His visit to Kishtwar would have surely helped the local administration restore peace in the area. Omar Abdullah Government, which is being accused of being pro-separatist, undermined democracy by detaining the Leader of Opposition and not allowing him visit the bloodied Kishtwar. Omar Abdullah accused Arun Jaitley of adopting a selective approach. It appears that the J&K Chief Minister is not aware of the fact that the BJP national president Rajnath Singh had sent BJP Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad-led three member delegation to Muzaffarnagar to get first hand information about what led to the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar and other areas, including Shamli, but the incompetent UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, like Omar Abdullah, did not allow the three-member BJP delegation to visit Muzaffarnagar. The UP Government detained the members of the delegation on the same ground on which the Omar Abdullah-led Government detained Arun Jaitley in Jammu on August 11. Omar Abdullah's charge against Arun Jaitley was not just flawed but also ill-designed calculated to mislead and hoodwink the public. He should know that the BJP, unlike the NC, the Congress and similar other outfits which are controlled by dictators, is a democratic party. It is, unlike the NC, a national party. Its area of activities is not limited like that of the NC, which cannot be even described as a State-level party. The BJP leaders have to criss-cross the country and, hence, it is not always possible for one BJP leader to visit all the affected areas. Arun Jaitley had come to Jammu to visit Kishtwar as per the decision of the BJP high command. Similarly, it was the BJP high command that asked Ravi Shankar Prasad and two other MPs to visit the riot-affected Muzaffarnagar. All in all, it can be said that Yadav, who has failed as Chief Minister, and Omar Abdullah whose Government is also accused of being incompetent, irresponsible and communal are two sides of one and the same coin. That's the reason that all the sane persons demand dismissal of the UP and J&K Governments. But Omar Abdullah, like Akhilesh Yadav will not see reason. He will simply indulge in the kind of politics he has been indulging in since years to destroy the Kashmir's premier political outfit like Yadav is destroying the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh by pursing communal policies. |
