Anantnag, Sept 22: Ganesh Asthapan Trust Kurigam, was reconstituted in the backdrop of encroachment of nearly 9 kanals of temple land by certain elements with the help of land mafia. Adjacent, Qazigund in South Kashmir district of Anantnag, two temples namely Shri Ganesh temple having land about 13. 5 kanals and Mata Chandi having 2 and half kanal land along with temple and spring under khasra number 1129/420 min has been encroached by unidentified persons, P N Raina, President of Trust said adding that in this connection a delegation of members had met District Development Commissioner, Anantnag last year, but nothing was done on ground. He urged upon the concerned authorities to look into matter at the earliest and instruct officers to free the land from illegal encrochers. Today's meeting was held under the chairmanship of Rattan Lal Tikoo. On the occasion office bearers were also elected which include Pushkar Nath Raina as president of the Trust. Rattan Lal Tikoo, Bansi Lal Dhar, Inder Krishan Tikoo, Shuban Lal Tikoo, Dileep Ji Dhar, Vijay Raina and Chaman Lal Koul all elected as vice president, organizer, cashier, secretary, joint secretary, advisor and press and publicity secretary respectively. Janki Nath Dhar, Prem Nath Raina, Rattan Lal Dhar, Avtar Krishan Dhar, Bal Krishan Tikoo and Yogesh Dhar were also elected as members.
