Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 22: With Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) still in a fix over the appointment of coach for the state cricket team, the performance of the state squad in the ensuing Ranji trophy season would depend on individual skills and the assistance of local coaches.
Sources revealed that ignorant attitude of the JKCA with respect to the key issues in state cricket had laid down the morale of the players as they were not provided with a ranks coach since the departure of Bishen Singh Bedi.
Sources said the delay in appointing the coach has occurred due to the recent indifference and lobbying within the Association and other members.
A senior official from JKCA wishing anonymity said, "Though, the news for the colorable appointment of former Indian captain Mohammed Azharudin had built some motion in this concern but the news remained restricted to the media desk only, and nothing on ground had been initiated by the authorities so far".
As the much publicized news yielded no fruit for the state cricket squad, probably the team is likely to perform under the mentoring of any local coach for the upcoming season, he added.
Sources added, "The players are also disappointed at large with the ignorant attitude of the elite body for cricket in state as they are yet not confirmed whether they would be provided any coach or not."
Concerned over the current stance of JKCA, a Senior player from valley while expressing peeve said, at time when hardly one month is left for the fresh season, where other states were undergoing crucial practice sessions under proper mentoring, in the meantime the players of Jammu and Kashmir are even not informed about the probables to state squad, as the JKCA have yet to announce the state squad for the prestigious tourney, how it could be justified on the part of JKCA.
When contacted, Treasurer JKCA Manzoor Wazir said the association was also concerned about the non-availability of rank coach but efforts were being made to make some arrangements. He confirmed that no exercise was being done to rope in new coach.
