`Negligence' in GMC claims life, magisterial inquiry ordered

Jammu, Sept 22: District Development Commissioner Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu has ordered a magisterial inquiry following the death of the youth in GMC hospital due to alleged negligence of doctors.
The inquiry was ordered following the strong protest demonstrations by the relatives of the deceased youth.
The youth, Anil Kumar son of Ravi Kumar of Tallab Tillo was got admitted in the emergency wing of the GMC hospital following his complaint of stomach pain. While doctors started his treatment the youth breathed his last.
Following his death, the relatives of the youth alleged doctors' negligence which claimed his life. They alleged that no doctor was willing to operate him in the emergency wing and it was late treatment by doctors which claimed his life. They also alleged that the injection given to him was also outdated.
Based on the allegations, DDC ordered magisterial inquiry and a board of four doctors was constituted who conducted postmortem in the presence of Tehsildar Jammu, the report of which is awaited.
