| BJP to take up refugees', migrants' issue vigorously; corners Union, State Govts on issue | | | Et Report
JAMMU, Sept 22: Eying the 2014 Assembly and Parliamentary elections BJP will take up the issues of migrants and refugees vigorously at all fora and launch a decisive struggle for their solution.
According to Party Sources, the BJP has already cornered the State and Union Government on host of issues concerning the people in J&K and the prevailing law and order situation in militancy infested State. The Party MP Avinash Roy Khanna who is also incharge of the trouble -torn State has already taken up the refugees and migrants issue in parliament and accused both State and Central governments of doing very little for the rehabilitation of these hapless people. Making the grant of rights to West Pakistan refugees a prestigious issue BJP is for its settlement once for all as the hapless refugees have been deprived of justice for last over 60 years by the successive State Governments to appease a particular group of population in the State. Sources said the settlement of the issue has been kept top on its agenda by the party under the stewardship of Narindera Modhi who has been recently named as Party's Prime Ministerial candidate. A sizable number of Party leadership is of the view that the issue can't be kept lingering for any time more and if BJP returns to power at Centre it will settle it once for all in close coordination with State Government by creating a special provision in the law of the land, sources added.
Sources said the BJP will not hesitate in seeking an amendment in the law for this purpose as the grant of citizenship rights to West Pak refugees is a humanitarian issue and like Congress the Party will not do any politicking on it. Sources said Narindera Modi has also asked the Party senior functionaries to priorities the issues and keep the J&K on priority including the problems being faced by the people in all three regions and the possible solutions with special reference to West Pak refugees, POJK refugees, Kashmir migrants and militancy affected people of all three regions of border State.
This is the reason that the party has arranged a five day long refugees rally in Jammu region from October 2 to 6, sources said, adding the rally will mobilize the public opinion for the settlement of refugees problems and brace up for a broad based agitation for the settlement of these rights.
Sources said BJP leadership has also assured the refugees that the party is at their back and it will not let them down in seeking justice.
The BJP is of the opinion settlement of the problems of the refugees, militancy affected people and Kashmiri migrants will lead to restoration of peoples confidence in democratic institutions and it will also dealt a serious blow to the anti national elements active in the State. |
