| JKESL delegation calls on Divisional Commissioner | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 22 : A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Ex Services League (JKESL) headed by their president Maj Gen (retd) G. S. Jamwal, Ex MLC called on the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Division.
Gen Jamwal briefed the Div Commissioner about the Welfare Housing Organisation (WHO) which is raising two colonies for the Ex-servicemen (ESM), war widows and widows of soldiers and retired veterans of all the three services. The colonies will accommodate some 6,000 families and is the largest project of its nature. The idea was approved in 1997 by the then CM Farooq Abdullah and is yet to get finalised due to varied procedural hassles. While the land award order was issued for Rajinder Vihar in Jan 2012 only 14 kanals of land has been acquired so far in village Patti Distt Samba. In case of Kargil Vihar in spite of the clear approval by the Govt two years back, the then Collector did not issue the land award order, thus causing unwarranted delay and litigation.
Even now the demarcation of land clear in all respects is not being done in Kargil Vihar, Village Baran Distt Jammu. Some other related issues were also discussed in detail. The delegation brought out that nearly 300 of its original members have expired awaiting the establishment of the colony and double that number is in advance age of above 80 years. The cost of construction has sky rocketed over the decade of delay and causing extreme hardship to poor pensioners, widows and war widows. This is after very positive assurances personally by the present Governor, Chief Minister all the DDC collectors dealing in revenue officials. The Div Comnr Shantmanu gave a very patient hearing to the delegation. He also agreed to visit the colonies for an on the spot familiarization with facts and assured all possible help within the framework of rules. On an invitation from president JKESL, the Div Com also agreed to grace the mega ESM rally being organised by the JKESL at Jammu on the 29th of Sept 2013. |
