early times report
Jammu, Sept 22: Natrang presented a new Hindi play 'Kundali' in its weekly theatre series, Sunday Theatre at Natrang Studio Theatre, Kachi Chawni. The play has been written by Partap Sehgal and directed by Neeraj Kant. The play very aptly cautioned against being too much superstitious as it leads to many problems.
The play 'Kundli' presented the story of one 'Vinay Kumar' who is often despised by his wife for his lifestyle as she is much more sophisticated and at a higher rank them him. She also dislikes him because of his being too much superstitious and believing blindly on horoscopes. He refuses the marriage proposal for their son with a very good girl just because their horoscopes do not match as per his astrologer. As the son was educated and modern, and also liked that girl, he refuses to abide the illogical reasons given by his father. He tries to make him understand that it is not just horoscopes which guarantee the most compatible marriage, it depends on the couple to make their marriage successful or not. He even cites different examples before him where there is no harmony between the couple even after their horoscopes were properly matched even same was the case with him. But all this was of no use, then the son decides to make the way himself, he approaches the astrologer and bribes him to make his marriage possible. Astrologer agrees to this tempting offer and makes his father ready for the marriage of his son with the same girl on the pretext that he had matched the wrong horoscope earlier and now the right horoscopes match very well. Though we laugh at this situational comedy, but it raises many serious questions also which need to be answered by no one else but us.
Natrang young actors who presented this performance included Ashwani Bali, Subha Rajput, Uplaksh Singh Kotwal, Susheel Raina, Sakshi Parkash and Pankaj Verma. Lights were operated by Neeraj Kant and Music was rendered by Mahikshit Singh Sambyal. Sets were erected by Mohd. Yaseen and Rahul Singh. Vineet Sharma did the presentation and the show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
