early times report
Jammu, Oct 13: Natrang presented an Urdu play 'Khudkushi' written by Sadat Hassan Manto and directed by Neeraj Kant in its weekly theatre series 'Sunday Theatre'.
The play conveyed an important message in a hilarious manner though it is portrayed in a non preaching way. Natrang's Director complimented all for creating this history in the field of contemporary theatre for the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The play revolves around a plot which is so instinctive and obvious that may surround as a thick dark cloud on anyone's wisdom. In a very satirical manner the play preaches optimism and role of positivity which is its real strength. When the Play opens, a girl is mourning the death of her lover. She thinks it as the end of the world and gets so upset that she decides to commit suicide.
But before that, she thinks of taking permission of her uncle, whom she holds responsible for the death of her soul mate. Uncle, who is more concerned about his reputation, has very little feelings of her niece and permits her on the condition that he himself will write suicide note for her, as he thinks her incapable of even writing a proper note, Meanwhile, 'Heer' appears in the picture, who looks very upset as she was followed by 'Ranjha', Heer explains her about the pain of the other love couples like Soni-Mahiwal, Laila-Majnu, Sasi-Punoo etc. Heer finally convinces the girl that love is not worth dying for, and even repents her decision to die in love. Girl changes her mind and realizes that how important the life is? The play is a satire on all those who are incapable to face the challenges of life and commit suicide. Life is to live and face the challenges but not succumb its obstacles and commit suicides. Its beauty lies in facing it with smile.
The cast of the play include Sajra Qadir, Rahul Singh, Anita Dhar and Shivam Manhas. The music of the play was operated by Mohd. Yaseen. The lights were executed by Ashwani Bali. Sakshi Prakash did the presentations.
