| Terrorist activities likely to flare up in winter | | Agencies warn of spurt in violence | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 13: Terrorist activities are likely to go up in the coming winter. Terrorists are using all possible means to flare up the level of violence in the State in run up to 2014 withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan. The recent recovery of fake currency valuing Rs seven lakh is an indication of the trend. The recovery by the police has been made a few days after the Keran encounter, where Pakistan made desperate attempt to push in terrorists but failed due to swift and effective response from the Army. "It's after a long time that fake currency has been recovered in Jammu. The incident has come up after Keran encounter so there is every possibility that terrorists want to flair up the things in the State, " said a senior police official wishing not to be named. The money is likely to be used by separatists and also by terrorists to lure in youth in Kashmir to join terrorist activities and also to strike more at security installations and also target army and security forces. According to sources, the handlers of terrorist outfits have devised a strategy for two-pronged terrorist activities. The handlers want to engage the army and security forces along the border with consistent infiltration attempt so that the focus of all agencies shifts there and then push in other methods of terrorist activities from other soft spots. The intelligence agencies have already warned of spurt in terrorist activities in the days to come. The terrorists outfits may strike more in Jammu region as it has more ramifications and could give them wide publicity to score the point. It's not only that money is pushed in but reports also suggest that a group of terrorists is also attempting another major infiltration attempt in Poonch sector. According to sources, army and intelligence agencies have heard intercepts that a major infiltration of huge terrorists group is likely to take place and this is keeping the army and security forces in tizzy. |
