EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Oct 13: Miffed over pathetic condition of Railway Station road and other connecting roads, dozens of women staged protest demonstration against the administration at village Govindsar on Sunday. The villagers were demanding due maintenance of the dilapidated roads. Expressing concern over the matter protester Dimpy Devi, said that they even don't know when their roads were constructed. The present situation is that not only the main Railway Road but the other roads of the village are in worst condition. "About two years back, a major road accident happened on the Railway Road killing two-three people, at that time administration built the castles in air and as usual the condition of road got bad to worse," she added. "It has enhanced problems of local as well as the passengers, who come to Railway Station.", she said adding that the road was full of potholes which made it difficult for vehicles to ply on it. The huge traffic and damaged road often led to accidents. Alleging that the administration turned deaf ears towards their problem, Dimpy said that time and again, the people staged protest and also apprised about the problem, but all in vain. The protesters urged district administration to repair the damaged roads of the village. They also warned the administration if their demands are not considered seriously they will be compelled to block the highway, for which the administration will be responsible. |
