Sports Reporter JAMMU, Oct 13: To encourage the budding talent of the state in their endeavour to excel at the National level, Tawi Trekkers J&K, the premier adventure sports organization of J&K, today announce cash awards for those winning medals at the upcoming National Sport Climbing Championship scheduled to be held at Bangalore from October 28 to October 31. While the gold medal winner shall be honoured with cash prize of Rs10000, those silver and bronze medalists shall be awarded with a cash prize of Rs7000 and Rs5000 respectively. As also those who enter the final round of the competition shall also be presented Rs 2000 each. This was announced by the general secretary of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Ram Khajuria while felicitating the medal winners of the recently concluded North Zone Sport Climbing Championship, here today. Important to mention here that Shilpa Charak of Shining Star Academy, Muthi and Kumari Bindia Sharma of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhampur clinched silver and two bronze medals respectively. Both these climbers were honoured in a function held at Club office, here. Sharing their experience, Shawetica Khajuria, a senior member of the Club, who is also a member of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee and a National Judge of Sport Climbing and accompanied the team as manager, disclosed that the new look J&K team missed a couple of medals because of lack of experience and exposure to the big event. However, Shivani Charak, Aman Dogra and Mrityunjay Sharma performed well to reach the finals in their respective categories, he informed the gathering. The members wished Shilpa and Bindia a grand success in the forthcoming National Championship. A memento and a gift hamper were also presented to the illustrious climbers. Prominent among those present on the occasion included president of the Club, Sumant Singh Jamwal, senior members, Amit Khajuria, Rahul Sharma, Sumit Khajuria, Arti Sharma and Mrigank Kaushal as also vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Yogeshwar Kumar and secretary Snow Trail Mountaineers, Navneet Gupta. |
