| 200 stolen sheep, goats recovered | | | Kishtwar, Oct 13: Chatroo police during two days search operation in mountainous area bordering Anantnag District of Kashmir recovered over 200 sheep and goats stolen from various areas of Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District in last few days.
As per the police reports, Chatroo police on the basis of reports about thefts of sheep and goats from the homes and Dhoks of Gujjar nomads registered an FIR No 92 U/S 392/458/323/148 at police station Chatroo and started its investigation. During the course of the investigation, police developed some inputs regard the transportation of the stolen sheep and goats to Kashmir for sale ahead of Eid-ul-Azha festival. Acting on the inputs, Chatroo police party lead by SHO Chatroo Farooq Khateeb and Sub Inspector Imran Butt under the supervision of SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal launched a massive search operation in mountainous belt of Fambar Nallah and recovered the stolen animals valuing over 25 lacs in the market. Police team shifted nearly 202 sheep and goats to police station Chatroo and the same will be handed over to the real owners after proper verification. Police said that after seeing the police party coming, all the miscreants involved behind the theft of these animals managed to escape from the spot. Police said that efforts are on to identify the culprits. Local people hail the efforts of Chatroo police.
