PDP demands compensation for rains, hail storms affected farmers

Hiranagar, Oct 14 : Expressing his grave concern over damage to the standing crops due to recent hail storms and heavy downs in Kathua district, general secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thakur Balbir Singh today asked the State Government to depute teams of officers to assess total losses on the ground. In a statement issued here today after conducting extensive tour of different areas of Hiranagar tehsil of Billawar Assembly segment, Thakur Balbir Singh said that huge chunk of standing crops have been damaged due to heavy downs and hail storms two days back. He said that in some places crops of farmers have been completely damaged. He emphasized on the need of deputing teams of officers to conduct on the spot survey to assess the total losses so that adequate compensation should be given to the farmers. Thakur Balbir Singh also expressed his concern over conditions of roads in Billawar Assembly segment. He drew attention of the authorities towards deplorable condition of Dayala Chak-Challian road. He asked the authorities to immediately repair the road which is the main road to connect Billawar with other parts of the State.
Singh said that far flung areas were the worst victims of government's apathy. He said thateH people of far flung areas were still suffering on account lack of basic amenities and facilities like health, water, power, education etc. Pointing towards non availability of health facilities in the state, he said that health facilities were almost nil and people have to travel hundreds of miles to get treatment. Reiterating resolve of PDP to solve problems of all regions and sub-regions of the State, he said that PDP was committed to overall development of the state and equal opportunities and share to all regions, sub regions especially to far flung areas. "PDP during its three years tenure had worked for the uniform development of the State. All provinces , regions and sub regions got their share of development , be it creation of tehsils , blocks , universities , colleges , schools , health centers including employment", he said.
