Srinagar, Oct 14: The State health department is likely to launch a new health scheme to screen all children below 18 years of age across the state to provide free treatments if required through district and tertiary level hospitals very soon. According to the details, a centrally sponsored scheme namely Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), with an estimated state budget of Rs 1754.63 lacs for next six months will cover only nine district in the first phase.
Health Minister Shabir ahmad said that district Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) for strengthening of SNCUs and Pediatrics sections at district hospitals will cover Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Jammu, Udhampur, Doda, Rajouri and Leh in its first phase for the year 2013-14.
The details reveal that under the scheme the screening of the new-born babies both at home and public-health facilities, Pre-schooling children up to the age of 6 years from Anganwari centres and school going children and adolescents from age 6-18 years studying in Government and Government aided schools will be the targeted beneficiaries under this programme.
The scheme was part of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to treat any kind of disease, deficiency and disability in children and provide free treatment under the scheme.
Shabir Ahmad khana also said that the programme (RBSK) includes child health screening and early intervention, assuring a package of health services for all children up to 18 years of age,besidres Children will be checked for defects at birth, diseases and deficiencies.
He also said that two medical teams would be formed at block level and each block will be provided an ambulance to cater the needs of people. "I have directed all the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to complete the formalities for the scheme as the state has received the funds from the central government and it will start soon in the state.
That details also reveal that scheme will benefit a large number of unemployed doctors and other paramedics,so manpower of 773 posts will be sanctioned in the state under this scheme, in which 400 doctors Indian System of Medicine (ISM) will also be provided jobs apart from AYUSH Doctors.
