| NMC submits memorandums seeking release of 10% DA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 14 : Stressing the need for immediate release of 10% DA due from July last, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Chief Minister, Finance Minister and Chief Secretary to announce the same in favour of state government employees and pensioner on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha in cash, as the same installment of DA had already released by the central as well as several state governments to their employees and pensioners since long. In a three separate memorandums to Omar Abdullah, A.R. Rather and Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, NMC Chief reiterated that provision for such expenditure already exist in the current year budget estimates and the government should take early decision in this regard which will further strengthen the bonds of the employees and government. Delay in such matter is also not in interest of the state exchequer, "he added. In the memorandum Shastri demanded immediate amendment of SRO 64 and formulate comprehensive policy for regularization of all daily rated workers/casual and seasonal labourers engaged in R&B, Irrigation Floriculture, PDD and other departments of the state Government after March 31, 1994 so that confusion and uncertainty among these workers will come to end. He said, that early amendment in SRO 64 is the need of the hour which is bound to benefit about 55 thousand daily rated workers working in various departments of the state government and Public sector undertakings, adding that such an amendment in SRO should be made at the earliest so that new regularization policy becomes operational from 1st January 2014 as a new year gift as they high hopes from the coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah. Release of pending salary of motivators working in IWDP project Akhnoor, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in Rural Development Department, enhancing medical allowance to Rs. 1000/- per month, release of 3rd installment of 6th pay commission arrears, release of wages of daily wagers working in various government departments were other demands highlighted in these memorandums. |
