| Army fully prepared to meet any 'threat' after withdrawal of USA forces from Afghanistan: GoC | | | early times report Rajouri, Oct 14: Asserting that the Indian army is fully prepared and counter insurgency posture on Line of Control (LoC), General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps Lt Gen DS Hooda, today said that army is very fully prepared to meet any threat from terrorists after the withdrawal of USA and NATO forces from Afganistan in 2014. Lt Gen Hooda while talking to the reporters at the side lines of a function held by the Romeo Force (CIF) at Manjakot in district Rajouri to felicitate the war veterans and widows from Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu districts. 'The withdraw of USA and NATO forces would affect the entire region, he admittingly said further underlined that there are less possibilities that immediately after the withdrawal of these forces theorists will divert their attention to enter the Kashmir. When asked about Hafiz Sayeed, Laishker-e Toiba (LeT) chief recently visited some forward areas in PoK falling opposite to Rajouri and Poonch districts, he said, "he (Hafiz) may have come to Muzffrabad and then to Kotli to brief the commanders of the militant organizations.' He further added that far the last few months most of the commanders of top terrorist organizations are camping in these areas and are in constant touch with the militants sitting along the LoC who are desperate to get a chance to infiltrate to this side of border. Commenting upon spurt in ceasefire violations by Pak troops, he said, "Yes, there is tension on the border in Jammu region but every truce violation by the Pakistan army to facilitate the intruders, was promptly and effectively retaliated and no infiltrator was allowed to enter the Indian soil" said Lt Gen Hooda. He showed his apprehensions that after few days when there will be heavy snow fall in the Kashmir valley and these militants/terrorist organizations will focus their attention in Rajouri and Poonch districts to sneak into Indian side. To a question about the presence of militants in Rajouri district, the Corps Commander said, "this is very thin. The number of militants does not matter but it matter whether they succeeded in accomplishing their evil motives or not". He however denied about any information that Pak Border Action Team (BAT) is planning to abduct the Indian soldiers but said that they are active along the LoC across the border. He also denied about any information about existence of new training camps opened in POK but said that terrorists are taking training in the already established camps which were reactivated by the Pakistan and may be pushed to disturb the ensuing peace in the Jammu region. "Our forces are on the high alert, he said and added, "despite the fact that terrorist entered the army formation in Samba but morale of our troops is high who carried out the successful operation and stopped them to force their entry in family accommodations which were very near to their location. |
