Kishtwar, Oct 14: The education system in District Kishtwar of Jammu province has badly suffered since last four months first due to massive earthquake on May 1 and secondly due to August 9 communal violence.
On both the occasions, the educational institutions mostly remained closed as a result of which the student community suffered badly. Though the situation in Kishtwar town is normal, but the education remains a casualty for an administrative order.
As per the administration order, 11 lecturers posted in various schools of including six from Boys Higher Secondary School have been asked to join their duties as duty magistrate. The Deputy Commissioner Baseer Ahmed Khan has appointed 13 officers as duty magistrates to ensure law and order.
The duty magistrates include 11 lecturers namely Arshad Hussain, Pardeep Kumar, Krishan Lal, Raiz Ahmed Butt, Jai Lal, Raiz ul Haq, Baber Amin, Sandeep Singh, Chander Prakash, Abdul Hafiz and Chander Shekhar, beside BDO Kishtwar Masood Ahmed Qazi and Naib Tehsildar Kishtwar Majid Jahangir and directed them to report District Superintendent of Police Kishtwar for further duties.
As per the students of Boys Higher Secondary School all the six lecturers instead of teaching them are attending their duties as duty magistrates since last nearly two years.
The students said that due to continuous attachment of school lecturers as duty magistrate, the student community has suffered a lot. They said that though the school administration has clubbed few classes to overcome the shortage, but added that the syllabus is still far from completion. They said that the administration order is continuously hunting them as they feel that in the era of competition every school day is important. Few students also said that similar problem was also faced by the 12th class students who are schedule to appear in the board exam at the end of this month. The students said that despite making request to the board authorities for postponement of 12th class examination by one month so that the students can cover the left out syllabus, but nothing was done on ground.
The students urged upon the government to direct Deputy Commissioner to relieve all the lecturers who were assigned with the job of duty magistrate by withdrawing order No: DCK/Adm/13/2019-34 passed by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar. But as per the order No: DCK/Adm/13/2019-34 dated 30-09-2013, 11 lecturers including six from Boys Higher Secondary School Kishtwar have been asked by the administration to carry one their duties as Duty Magistrates.
