| Dhobhi Biradari demands enhanced reservation quota of 27 percent | | | early times report Jammu, Oct 14: A general meeting of Dhobi Biradari (Washerman) was held in Jammu under the chairmanship of Hafiz Ullah (Retd. Superitendent of Police), wherein a new state body was formed in All J&K Dhobi Biradari Centre Committee and the problems faced by the community were discussed. In details, it was resolved that Biradari belongs to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and to change the nomenclature from OSC to OBC which have been approved by the State Government on 16th November, 2007 all the members demanded for enhancement in reservation quota of OBC from 2% to 27% as agreed by the Chief Minister and other Cabinet Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir state against demand of 27% reservation as per Mandal Commission Report upheld by Supreme Court Judgement 1992. They also demanded that there should be issuance of one certificate of OBC both for state as well as central government services and scholarships for the students belongs to Dhobi Community. While framing the body all the members who were present appointed Abdul Qadir as General Secretary for the third time and also said that he is much capable to be honored by the state government as he is working for the welfare of the Biradari from the last 26 years. Earlier, Abdul Qadir was honored with great respect for the betterment and welfare of the community as well as for the society with dedication, sincerity, honesty, whole heartily without any personal interest by the Biradari.
