| Locals seek CM’s intevention for early completion of Hatli-Mehtabpur road | | |  early times report
Kathua, Oct 14 : Resented people over non-completion Hatli Morh to Mehtabpur road today urged higher authorities of Border Road Organization (BRO) to construct the road as early as possible.
The local has also sought Chief Minister's intervention for early completion of said road. Residents of adjoining area were gathered under the leadership of Col PL Choudhary and expressed their anguish about the callous attitude of BRO for leaving the road in state of worst.
Singh said that an Amn point is being established by the Army near village Kharote (Kathua) and the road leading to that point from Hatli More to village Kharote was executed by the BRO (69 RCC) from PWD R&B Kathua approximately four years back.
"Since then the road has neither been maintained nor surfaced by the BRO, as a result the road has turned into a khad. Approximately, 10,000 people are using this road daily and one or two accidents of motor cyclists do take place daily on this road", he said, adding that the people were daily protesting against the callous attitude of BRO and on a number of occasions memorandums have been submitted to Jatinder Kumar Singh, DDC Kathua, official concern of BRO but no action has been taken by them so far.
"Even a deputation of senior citizens mostly ex-servicemen of the area went to Samba to meet OC 69 RCC who though assured that he would complete this road before March 2014 but nothing has been done on ground so far. Accordingly, your good office was also approached by the general public through my DO letter but it appears that my DO letter has been thrown into the dust bin as I have not received any reply from your good office so far", he maintained.
The general public has also approached Choudhary Lal Singh, MP, who has recently visited the area and assured that he would take up the matter with the appropriate authority soon. He also said that the condition of road is so bad that it cannot be explained in words. The road has turned into a khad as there are big stones and boulders lying on this road and there is dust everywhere but poor public have no option but to use this road as there is no alternative road available to them. People are so agitated that they raise slogans against the BRO and Army every alternative day and the procession burn the effigy of CO 69 RCC. |
