| 4 years RI, fine Rs 40000 to SBI Manager | | | Et Report Jammu, Oct 23: Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases) J&K Jammu Kaneez Fatima today awarded four years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 40,000 to Kulbir Singh Khajuria, then Branch Manager State Bank of India Ramsoo Branch who was caught red-handed on September 23, 2008 while demanding and accepting bribe Rs. 3000 from the complainant. According to the CBI case it has been submitted that case was registered on the basis of written complaint filed by one Naresh Kumar Prop. MIIT Software Jallandhar Punjab with the allegation that KUlbir Singh Khajuria then Branch Manager SBI Ramsoo demanded an amount of Rs 3000 as illegal gratification from him for raising bills amounting Rs. 11000/-. A case was registered on September 22, 2008 and investigation was entrusted to KL Raina Additional SP CBI/ACB Jammu for laying a trap to catch the accused red-handed, while committing the crime. A trap team was constituted and trap was laid on September 23, 2008 in the office chamber and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting bribe and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the court. Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases) J&K Jammu Kaneez Fatima after hearing Special PP CBI SK Bhat for the CBI whereas Adv KK Sharma for the accused observed that the prosecution has succeeded in establishing demand of bribe by the accused as public servant and accused is accordingly found guilty and convicted for the offence u/s 161 RPC and 5(2) w/w section 5(1) (d) of PC act 2006 and awarded rigorous imprisonment of two years and fine of Rs 20,000 (in total forty thousand) for each distinct and further said that both the sentences shall run concurrently and the amount of fine if not released within 15 days, same shall be realized from the estate of the accused and sent him to District Jail for serving the punishment.
