| Omar retreats like a toddler after Geelani's scolding | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 23: Just a day after coming under attack from separatists for daring to take on Pakistan, Chief Minister stepped down from his aggressive posturing. He made clear that people of the state are not in favour of war. Omar's remarks are even in divergence with the statement of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde who had on Tuesday on his visit to Jammu said India has to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. Omar was present when the Home Minister made this statement and even agreed with him. However, a day after his statement, separatists criticized the Chief Minister with hardliner Sayed Ali Geelani going to the extent of saying that when even Omar Abdullah feels that Centre is again banking on Ghulam Nabi Azad or Mufti Mohammad Sayed he resorts to Pakistan bashing. Omar had tried to follow Pakistan who often suggested attacking Pakistan. But Farooq was in New Delhi's good books and also in total control of his party. However, Omar doesn't have any of them. And by taking on Pakistan he now feels that he is annoying a major section in Kashmir which is also a major vote bank. Omar has now realized that he is already on a slippery political wicket and his rather national outburst could not do him much favour. He is probably even scare of Mufti Sayeed who has been consistently asking for end of skirmishes to restore normalcy in the state. The Chief Minister's earlier statement has been termed up as childlike behavior by hardcore separatists Geelani, whom Dr Farooq Abdullah could dare to rebuke openly. But Omar has bend down to the diktats of Geelani not like a child but as a toddler. |
