| Intensification of infighting imminent in Cong after high profile joining | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 23: Intensification of infighting in the faction ridden Congress is imminent after joining of leaders of other parties and retired bureaucrats in the party. Publically the Congress is trying to give an impression that joining of such a large number of people would strength the party but internally party is aware that this development would add fuel to the factionalism. Sources said that those who have joined party have given assurances by the leaders of their proper adjustment so it was natural that other Congress leaders would not tolerate adjustment of new entrants. Sources said that joining of PDP's ex general secretary Balbir Singh into the party would intensify infighting in the Kathua Congress which is already divided into two groups. Balbir Singh is a strong leader who has personal rapport with some central leaders so his joining is like an eyesore for some of the Congress leaders of Kathua. Singh has following in Billawar assembly segment. Furthermore joining of veteran leader Gurbachan Kumari Rani is not taken well by other female Dalit leaders of the party. Rana is veteran leader and has following in Samba district. Joining of Master Tassaduq Hussain and Murtaza Khan has already sent a shock to Congress leaders of Poonch and Rajouri districts. Congress would be benefitted by the political experience of Tassaduq Hussain in Rajouri and Darhal assembly segments but he also want his adjustment at the cost of other leaders who are already in the party. Murtaza Khan would try to get mandate from Mendhar Assembly segment and this would not be tolerated by other Congress leaders. |
