Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 23: Notwithstanding the discrimination and bias that it has been victim of, Jammu division has surpassed Kashmir in revenue collection by a huge difference. As per documents made available by Finance department it came to fore that Jammu region has been generating more revenue including GST/VAT, MST, P. Tax and Stamps in comparison to Kashmir region. The documents divulged that for the fiscal year 2004-05, the state government had realized total revenue in form of GST/VAT, MST, P. Tax and Stamps duty to the tune of Rs. 832.91 Crore. "Out of this amount a whooping Rs 620.40 Crore was realized from Jammu division, while merely Rs. 212.51 Crore from Kashmir division", documents revealed. Similarly, for the financial year 2005-06, the state government had realized total revenue of Rs. 1007.80 Crore, out of which Jammu stood at number one contributing three times more revenue than Kashmir division. "The revenue generated from Jammu division was Rs 764.80 cr while from Kashmir valley was only Rs 243.00 Crore", the data reveals. Expressing dismay over, step motherly treatment with Jammu division by successive state governments, in-spite of more revenue realization than Kashmir division National Panthers Party Legislator Harsh Dev Singh said that the Kashmir centric politics of successive rulers have been preventing them to do justice with Jammu region. |
