| From Zero Line on IB Mufti preaches peace, tranquillity | | | Early Times Report NANGA (INDO-PAK BORDER), Nov 1: From the Zero Line on International Border (IB), patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today preached peace and tranquillity and gave a clear message that common people were the worst victim of the hostility between India and Pakistan. Mufti, who was addressing a gathering at Nanga village which is situated on the IB, cautioned leadership of both India and Pakistan against allowing further escalation of border and said that intensification of cease fire violation incidents would be proved disastrous for both the nations. "After very war, both the countries had to sit on table so it is totally wrong to allow skirmishes on the borders", he maintained and asserted that PDP would continue its efforts to restore lasting peace in this region especially on borders. Unlike other politicians who tried to rake up sentiments of the people during their visits to border, Mufti made it clear that normalcy on the borders was in the interests of both the nations and common people. "The cease fire announced in the year 2003 has brought positive chances in the lives of the border residents so it would be wrong to allow dividends of ceasefire to go waste", he said and made it clear that there was a need to take some effective steps to restore lasting peace on the borders. Expressing his concern over recent unfortunate incidents on the borders, he said that some concrete steps should be taken to avoid re-occurrence of such incidents which only add hardship and miseries to the border residents. He emphasized on the need to carry forward the peace initiatives and to expand the process of cross-LoC cooperation and trade in Jammu and Kashmir. "Indo-Pak cooperation is the key to resolving region's problems" he said and observed peace and cordial relations were in the interests of both the countries. He also emphasized on taking some effective steps to boost the process of peace and reconciliation with the neighbouring country. He cautioned the cosmetic steps are not going to help in establishing permanent peace on the borders. |
