| Challan against eight accused in mentally retarded home girls' rape case | | | Jammu, Nov 1 (JNF): Police Station Bahu Fort Jammu presented challan in much publicized mentally retarded girls' case against Angad Kumar, Surjit Kumar, Girdhari Lal Koul Principal Rotary Inner Wheel Home, Rajinder Kapoor Secretary Rotary Inner Wheel Home, Dr Raj Sharma, Dr Raman (owner of Asstha Nursing Home), PN Dubey President Rotary Inner Wheel Home and his wife Rovi Dubey u/s 376(2)(c)/109/315/201 RPC in the Court of Forest Magistrate Jammu. According to the challan on July 9, 2013, one Arti Mahajan lodged a written report in the P/S Channi Himmat, Jammu wherein it was alleged that the mentally retarded children of rotary inner wheel home are living in a shabby condition without proper care / treatment and minor girls are also sexually harassed / abused by the staff. The said complaint was forwarded by the SSP Jammu to the DC Jammu who constituted a committee of senior officers. The committee after conducting a thorough enquiry submitted its report wherein it was observed that minor mentally retarded girls are being subject to regular sexual intercourse and the committee also recommended for investigation by the Police. Accordingly a case FIR No. 183 of 2013 under Section 376 (c), 109 RPC was registered and investigation entrusted to SIT comprising of senior officers. During the course of investigation SIT seized the enquiry report of the committee, inspected spot and conducted photography of the spot. Some record of the Inner rotary home and Aastha Clinic were seized. Statements of complainant and other witnesses were recorded u/s 164-A / 161 Cr.PC and accused Angad Kumar, Surjit Kumar, Girdhari Lal Koul, Rajinder Kapoor, Dr Raj Sharma and Dr Raman were arrested. Identification parade of two accused Angad and Surjeet was got conducted through executive magistrate and they were identified by the victim girls. Today after completion of investigation, challan was presented in the court of Forest Magistrate who committed the case to Sessions Court as the offence is triable by Sessions Judge. |
