Rajouri, Nov 4: Representatives of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) today demanded a separate sub-plan for the community and called for reservation in jobs and admissions at par with others states of the country. As per a statement, OBCs district body meeting held here at Dak Banglow Rajouri under Chairmanship Abdul Majeed Qureshi which was attended by a large number of OBC community people. On the occasion, District President of the body, Abdul Majeed Qureshi demanded sanction of an extensive sub plan for their overall development. Implement Mendal Commission Report. Qureshi further demanded enhancement of reservation for the community in jobs and admissions in Jammu and Kashmir at par with other States. "According to the caste based census of 1931, the population of OBC was more than 35 percent but only 2 percent reservation has been given to them by the state government on nomenclature of other social castes. This is a great injustice and the community needs to be given reservation at par with the Central Government which 27 percent, so that these poor and deserving people could also be benefited," he added. |
