| JCC threatens to intensify agitation if cases not withdrawn against its leaders | | Calls for march towards Divisional Commissioner’s office on November 9 | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Nov 4: Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of government employees today threatened to intensify its agitation in support of their demands if the government did not stop in taking 'repressive' measures against the government employees. Meanwhile, JCC has given a call for a march towards the office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir on November 9 from Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) department. Talking to Early Times, JCC leader and Press Secretary, Employees Joint Action Committee-Qayoom, Pir Nisar Ahmad said that a meeting of JCC leaders and other employees was held here in which all the important JCC leaders took part. Nisar said the meeting took a strong note of the recent repressive measures taken against the government employees by state government. "The work in all the government departments was paralyzed during the two day strike on October 3 and 4 with majority of employees remaining away from work. Despite this the state government went on a rampage and suspended some of the employees. The government while adopting a pick and choose policy took revenge from government employees after the successful strike programme," said Nisar. The EJAC-Q Press Secretary said that this issue along with the issue of registration of First Information Report (FIR) against some of JCC leaders came up for discussion during today's meeting. He warned that employees would resort to strong agitation if the cases are not withdrawn against the JCC leaders at the earliest. "On November 9 all the government employees would assemble at CAPD office here and march towards the office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. A memorandum containing the demands of government employees along with the demand for withdrawal of cases against the JCC leaders would be handed over to Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir," said Nisar. The EJAC-Q Press Secretary said that JCC would give some time to state government for the fulfillment of demands of government including the demand for withdrawal of cases against JCC leaders. He said if the government fails then JCC would be forced to resort to strong agitation in support of their demands. "Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah should intervene in the matter since he directed for the signing of two agreements reached out between the state government and JCC leaders. Confrontation between the state government and employees would end only when the agreements reached out are implemented in letter and spirit," said Nisar. It would be in place to mention here that JCC is spearheading agitation while demanding enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, regularization of daily wagers, removal of pay anomalies and inclusion of first five years service of Rehbar-e-Taleem in their service records.
