| Omar back tracks from his Ireland talk | | 'J K is an integral part of India' | | Asif Iqbal Naik Jammu, Nov 4: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today back tracked from his Ireland talk saying Jammu Kashmir is an integral part of India. A few days ago, Omar while talking to a London based newspaper had said that Kashmir was a political problem and needed a solution on Ireland pattern. "There are no examples throughout the world where issues have been resolved in number of ways--- like Israel- Palestine, China Model of governing in Tibet and even in our own state different people put forward different solutions like Sajjad Lone's one, PDP, NC and other parties," he said. He said that that there is a need to study all these so that a genuine formula could be implemented in the state. He said that National Conference did not want to force any solution and is in favour of a better solution to be put in place. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has acceded to India and is an integral part of India. He evaded a reply on Syed Ali Shah Geelani's release and freedom to launch an election boycott. He also remained mum on statements from NC leaders on Geelani's release. Rejecting the possibility of joining the Third Front, Omar said NC was an ally of UPA and will continue to support the UPA. Omar admitted influence of Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on the electorate. He, however, said that the term 'Modi wave' is an exaggeration. "As far as Modi wave is concerned, it is a bit of an exaggeration also. It would be wrong on our part to deny any influence of Modi in the elections, but I wouldn't go as far as saying there is a wave," Omar said. He said that there is an effect of Modi and that effect may not be so much on the average voter, but it is visible on the cadre of the BJP. "The effect that it has on the election, we have to wait and see," Omar said. While expressing his views on continuous ceasefire violation along LOC and IB, he said that there are very less chances of ceasefire violation after a flag meeting. "We just can hope that such type of ceasefire violations do not take place in future--- but no one can say that such violations could not take place", said Omar Abdullah. In a question on possibility of bring a communal violence bill in wake of aftermath of August 9th Kishtwar Communal clashes, Omar said that "if they (Government) feel that there is need to bring this type of law--- we will look into it after proper deliberation in cabinet committee". He said two important legislations I.e. Right to Information Act and Public Service Guarantee Act will be further strengthened. He emphasized that "the more we strengthen and widen the gamut of the Public Service Guarantee Act, the better the administrative performance." Omar said that the Coalition Government is going to complete its five year period within next adding that the aim is to carry forward the developmental agenda as was promised to the people and also complete various ongoing projects with added thrust. He said that government is also moving ahead with the road map of creating new administrative units and the Cabinet Sub Committee constituted in this regard has almost completed the exercise. He said the endeavor of his government to take development process to the door steps of the people will receive a new impetus with the creation of these units. He said government endeavors to present a people friendly budget during the coming Assembly Session at Jammu. The Chief Minister reiterated the commitment and resolve of the Coalition government to fulfill developmental promises made with the people and carry forward the agenda of peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
