| Omar dismisses Jammu & Ladakh, says he represents K aspirations alone | | Subverting polity from within | | Neha JAMMU, Nov 4: NC working president and CM Omar Abdullah on Saturday contemptuously dismissed the people of Jammu and Ladakh as irrelevant and said that he is for a solution to the so-called Kashmir problem (read religious problem) that satisfies the (communal) urges of Kashmiris (read a section of population in the Valley). "It is a fact that youth who picked up gun didn't pick it for the construction of roads, buildings, hospital or schools; they picked up guns in a disturbed political scenario. They were seeking political solution of the issue, not fighting for development," Omar said addressing a public rally in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. "It is my duty to construct roads, buildings, schools, hospitals and fight for the eradication of unemployment. If I say that it will end the problem of Kashmir I am tricking myself and my people," he also reportedly said. But he didn't stop just there. Justifying what the Kashmiri youth did in the 1990 and thereafter to harm the paramount national interest in the Valley, he also reportedly said that "Kashmir is a political issue", that the "Kashmiri youth picked up gun in 1990s to seek the political solution of the dispute", that he was for a "dialogue with separatists"; that "Kashmir issue needed to be resolved politically in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people"; and that "let people's (read a section of society in the Valley) emotions and aspirations be taken into consideration while addressing the issue". What Omar Abdullah said in a public meeting was not just a violation of oath of office. It was an attack on the negation of the Jammu & Kashmir Constitution as well as the Constitution of India and an open revolt against India. Not only negation of the constitutional frame work and violation of oath of office. What he said was a direct attack on the sensitivities of the People of Jammu and Ladakh who constitute more than half of the state's population, occupy over 88 per cent of the state's land area and contribute more than 70 per cent revenue to the state exchequer ever year. His was a highly provocative and sectarian statement that "Kashmir issue needed to be resolved politically in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people". He, in fact, said that the communal solution that is acceptable to a section of Kashmiri society must be forced down into the throats of Jammu and Ladakh. Indeed, Omar Abdullah outraged the sensitivities of the people of Jammu and Ladakh. Ironically, neither the JKPCC and any of its spokespersons nor any of the Congress ministers took on Omar Abdullah and countered his onslaught on the Indian sovereignty and the nationalist people of Jammu and Ladakh. Not only the NC, which has already lost most of its political space in Jammu and Ladakh, but even the Congress, which won 13 seats last time in the assembly from Jammu after misleading, beguiling and hoodwinking the people, will have to pay a very heavy of unpopularity. It appears both the NC and the Congress have made up their mind to bite dust in 2014. How else should one describe the Omar Abdullah's Bandipora statement?
