Sports reporter JAMMU, Nov 24: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association, the 6th State (men) Championship shall take place at Dewan Mandir Akhara, here on November 28. This was decided in a meeting of the Association held under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma and attended besides others by chairman, Prem Choudhary and general secretary, Bansi Lal Tidyal. The meeting was informed that teams from districts of Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Doda, Anantnag, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Baramulla and J&K Police shall take part in the competition. As per the competition director, Mulkh Raj Sharma, the weighing shall take place between 8.30 am to 10.30 am on the given date and venue. It will be followed by the competition from 11 am onwards in weight categories of 55 kg, 60 kg, 66 kg, 74 kg, 84kg, 96kg and plus 96 Kg upto 120 kg. The championship shall be conducted following the new guidelines of the Indian Style Wrestling Association of India. Meanwhile, the Association shall also be selecting the state team for upcoming 47th Senior National Indian Style Wrestling Championship on December 14 at Bahadurgarh in Haryana. Among others who attended the meeting were Inderjeet Khajuria, Prithvi Raj Sharma, Mulkh Raj Sharma and Prem Kumar. Inter-college women kho-kho today Sports reporter JAMMU, Nov 24: Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu is holding women's kho-kho tournament as part of the annual inter-college competitions on the campus grounds, here from tomorrow. Including defending champion, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade and last year's runners-up, GCW Gandhi Nagar, 22 teams figured in the already laid down fixture for the five-day competition to be held on knock-out basis.
8 Sant Gurbaksh Memorial Hockey Tourney Parvinder's hat-trick guides TA 157 to easy win
Sports reporter JAMMU, Nov 24: Hat Trick from Parvinder Singh today helped 157 Territorial Army (TA) make it a big 8-2 win against Young Star in the inaugural match of the Ist Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. Parvinder scored four goals including last three of the match. He struck in the 28th, 51st, 53rd and 56th minute. Darvinder Singh (18th), Lakhwinder Singh (26th), Vikram Singh (32nd) and Nitin Dutta (36th) were other scorers. From Young Star, Harninder Pal Singh and Ramandeep sounded the board thus helped the side reduce the margin in the 39th and 49th minute of the match. The winning side of 157 TA got five penalty corners and successful converted two of them while Young Star got the only penalty corner which they missed. The opening match was officiated by the technical penal including S P Singh, Iqbal Singh, S S Reen, Indpal Singh and Jagjeet Singh under the guidance of tournament director, MS Reen. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by former Member Parliament, Janak Raj Gupta while Shubh Chander Verma was guest of honour. Among others present were chief organiser, Harminder Singh, organising secretary, Ravinder Singh and general secretary of the Hockey Jammu and Kashmir, Romal Singh.

Ranji Trophy: J&K beat Andhra by 17 runs et reporter Anantapur, Nov 24: Jammu Kashmir completed the formalities by dismissing the two remaining Andhra Pradesh batsmen to notch up a 17-run win on the fourth and final day of their low-scoring Ranji Trophy Group C match here on Sunday. Reduced to 79 for eight on Saturday, Andhra folded for 124 while chasing a meagre 142 for victory. Marripuri Suresh was the lone Andhra batsman to put up a semblance of fight against J&K with a 104-ball 50, which included seven hits to the fence. JKSMA Rafting team seen off at Pahalgam et reporter Srinagar, Nov 24: In order to participate in 1st Col B.S Sandhu Memorial Rafting Championship the J&K Ski & Mountaineering Association Rafting team was seen off at Pahalgam by Ibrahim Raina, President KROA, and Bashir Ahmad, General Manager Ahad Group of Hotels and Resorts today. Among others the representatives from JKSMA and Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir were also present. The Col B.S Sandhu Memorial Rafting Championship is being held on the waters of river Sutlej in Himachal Pradesh from 24th Nov to 1st December by Himachal Pradesh Rafting Association under the aegis of Flat and White Water Rafting Federation of India. The six member team consists of Mohamamd Yousuf, Gowhar Ahmad, Mohammad Rafi, Muzafar Ahmad, Mohammad Iqbal and Reyaz Ahmad. All these players are working as Asstt Raft Guides during summer with different Rafting Companies. Their participation in the championship would give them exposure to high graded rafting and will improve their skills. The team is sponsored by Ahad Hotels and Resorts, Hotel Shahanshah and Damna Adventures. The JKSMA has expressed its gratitude to the sponsors to make possible for JKSMA to field its team in this prestigious championship. The ATOAK also expressed its high praises for the sponsors. The state is presently importing the services of expert Raft Guides from Nepal and we do not have a single Raft Guide in Kashmir. We drain lot of revenue to outside. Senior Division Football League of DFA Jammu Young Rovers, NGR enter Super League
Sports reporter JAMMU, Nov 24: Young Rovers from Group-B and NGR from Group-A today qualified for the Super League round of the ongoing Senior Division Football League of District Football Association (DFA) Jammu at GGM Science College ground, here. Young Rovers held the prominent side of Vijay Club to a goalless draw to become eligible for the next round of the competition, considering better goal average. However, both sides underwent a close contest for a berth in Super League. The centre referee had a tough time to control the aggression of the two sides making all out efforts for a break through but result eluded them throughout. However, clad in green jersey, Young Rovers comparatively got more goal chances in the last 15 minutes of the play. At the end of the game, Young Rovers had a moment of joy while Vijay Club left the field in dejection. The young fans of Young Rovers celebrated the goalless draw. Earlier, in another league tie of group-A, NGR Club trounced Young Sports by a solitary goal to confirm their berth in the next round of Super League. The only goal of the match came through Kamal in the very first move of the game.
