| Defence, foreign affairs issues cannot be taken-up in PIL: DB | | | ET Report JAMMU, Nov 30 : Division Bench of the State High court comprising chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi closed a Public Interest Litigation filed by Rajeshwari Katoch with the observations that the instant Public Interest Litigation, involves issues of defence as well as foreign relations, such like issues cannot be taken-up in Public Interest Litigations. Division Bench further observed that a public spirit of person like the petitioner may do well by educating the public about effects of warfare or other instrument developed by Science. With these observations Division Bench closed the proceedings of Public Interest Litigation. In the PIL filed by Rajeshwari Katoch submitted that nearly two decades there has been great rise in occurrences of natural disasters in Indian Sub-continent and if we look at the statistics, in the period from 1991 to 2013 there have been 16 major earth-quakes in India while as from 1737 to 1975 there were only 9 major quakes and seeking directions to respondents to lay the information regarding non-conventional methods of warfare and technologies related therewith, as are known to human kind and seeking direction to respondent for lay the information regarding preparedness of the Indian State to secure the nation against such attacks.
