| Castigates Azad, Mufti; accuses them of carrying out disinformation campaign | | After Dr Farooq, Mustafa Kamaal rules out pre-poll alliance with Cong | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Two days after National Conference (NC) President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah stated that the party would contest all the three Parliamentary seats from Kashmir in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, NC Additional General Secretary, Dr. Mustafa Kamaal today ruled out any alliance with Congress for the next year's Parliamentary elections. Speaking at a function at the party headquarters, NC Additional General Secretary said that the statement of party president with regard to the Parliamentary elections should be treated as final. He said the formal announcement of the party candidates for 2014 Parliamentary elections would be made on December 5. "National Conference has the capacity and potential to fight the elections on its own and same has been done in the past. As such there is no need to forge alliance with Congress for the next year's Parliamentary elections. The party President has already made an announcement in this respect and it should be treated as final," said Dr. Kamaal. NC Additional General Secretary referred to Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz as power hungry and said that Soz can go to any extent in order to take over power. He denied reports that consultations are going on between National Conference and Congress leaders about the alliance for 2014 Lok Sabha. "National Conference is the party of masses in Jammu & Kashmir and we have always fought elections to provide relief to the common masses. We are not holding any consultation with the Congress party over the pre poll alliance at this point of time. We are taking the decisions of its own and we will join electoral fray without any partner," said Dr. Kamaal. NC Additional General Secretary took a dig at the statements of former Chief Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that there was peace and development in the state when they were leading the state government. He said both Azad and Mufti are resorting to anti-NC propaganda in order to get cheap publicity ahead of 2014 Parliamentary and Assembly elections. "No development took place during the rule of Azad and Mufti. This is mere propaganda and it is aimed against National Conference more so in the context of next year's Assembly and Parliamentary elections. Peace and development in the state has been possible during the governments headed by National Conference right from Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah," said Dr. Kamaal. NC Additional General Secretary claimed that people refer to the rule of National Conference as golden and said that the party leadership never took dictations from New Delhi. He said there are many leaders in state who take dictation from New Delhi adding that sole aim of dictation is to weaken National Conference. It would be in place to mention here that Dr. Kamaal has always been at loggerheads with his nephew, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. Omar has many times asked his uncle to stop issuing statements since they go against the 'coalition dharma' with Congress. Dr. Kamaal's statement is bound to upset Omar as he is too keen to forge alliance with Congress for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections slated for 2014. |
