| Separatists are consistent on raking up Kashmir issue | | Congress, BJP inconsistent on Pak refugee issue | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 30: While raising issues pertaining to civic problems separatists rake up the Kashmir issue.Even if these separatists wish to dilate on the energy crisis in the state they have no hesitation in raising the Kashmir issue.
Whether moderates or hardliners both groups of separatists touch the Kashmir issue even while berating the Government for its failure to check price rise.They have no hesitation for talking about the Kashmir issue while giving sermons to people in mosques and other shrines.
And even if the moderate group among the separatists held it executive committee meeting, after a long time in Srinagar the other day,the members seemed they had no other issue but that of Kashmir to debate and pass judgement. The executive council of the Hurriyat Conference's moderate faction said serious efforts were needed to create an atmosphere where "meaningful dialogue" could be held to solve the Kashmir-issue.
The APHC leaders said the disputed status of the Kashmir issue cannot be changed by the state-sponsored elections and serious efforts were needed for creating a conducive environment for initiating a meaningful dialogue to solve the Kashmir issue.They believed that the time had come to get rid of stubbornness and undertake the policy based on reality and solve the Kashmir issue according to the wishes and aspirations of the people, either by implementing the pending UN resolution or by meaningful result-oriented tripartite dialogue between the stakeholders of the dispute.
Apart from having prostituted the term the Kashmir issue,these separatists have shown deep fancy for words like dialogue,talks,emphasis having shifted from bilateral to triangular parleys,aspirations,human rights etc.
Even while talking about human rights violations,or about alleged excesses committed by the security forces, the final anger rests on the demand for settling the Kashmir issue. If ever these separatists talk about problem of unemployment, poverty, mal-governance, they want people to believe that these political and administrative lapses and difficulties are the result of delay in resolving the Kashmir issue.
Thank God these separatists are yet to attribute pending Kashmir issue to the vagaries weather making people uncomfortable either in severe cold or under blazing sun.If there are floods the cause is delay in settling the Kashmir issue. If the Valley is hit by drought pending Kashmir issue is the main factor responsible for it.
These separatists seem to be under a dread believing that series of Assembly elections held in the state, in which people’s participation has been quite encouraging, were being treated as a substitute for the UN resolution providing for a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.And if they have been repeatedly calling for poll boycott they are not to be blamed because they survive on keeping the Kashmir issue on a ventilator.
These separatists deserve credit for being consistent on raising the Kashmir issue.Even when Syed Ali Shah Geelani used to be the member of the State Assembly he would not deviate from his chosen path of raking up the Kashmir issue.
Against this mainstream politicians keep on changing their demands,slogans and opinions depending on whether they are in power or out of power.It is conditional accession of Jammu and Kashmir with India for the National Conference when it is in the opposition.When it is in power,accession is no issue in its eyes.The issue of greater autonomy assumes bigger importance for the NC during the election time.
For the BJP and Congress leaders rehabilitation of refugees from West Pakistan is important.They make commitments on resolving the pending issue.Elections over they forget about it and reraise the issue during the next election.
And ultimately both separatists and mainstream politicians confuse and misguide people. |
