| GMC organizes CME on Trauma | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 30: PG Department of Surgery, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today organized one day CME on "Modern Trends in Management of Trauma" under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir State Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India. Prof of Surgery Dr Tariq Parvez Azad was organizing secretary on the occasion. The CME was inaugurated by Director All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi Prof MC Misra who is a Natioanl Authority on Trauma while Prof HL Goswamy, Ex Principal GMC Jammu and former member Jammu and Kashmir State Public Service Commission was guest of honor. Around 150 delegates along with faculty, post graduates and students of GMC Jammu, ASCOM Jammu, GMC Srinagar, SKIMS Srinagar and GMC Chandigarh participated in the CME. In his address, Prof Misra deliberated on "Planning of a Trauma Center" which was in tune with the efforts of our government to start a separate Trauma Centre in Jammu. During the proceedings it was highlighted that trauma constituted 8% of deaths and 12% of disease burden worldwide. Speakers said trauma is more prevalent in developing countries and more common in low income population. They said in GMC Jammu as per audit report of General Surgery Deptt almost 6000 cases of trauma are admitted every year. |
